Mortlake sits on the tip of the Canada Bay peninsula, best known for its little vehicle ferry across the river. We look after homes, townhouses and workshops in Mortlake with lockouts, lock changes and repairs.

Mortlake and the peninsula

Mortlake is a small suburb at the northern end of the peninsula, near the punt that crosses the Parramatta River to Putney. Tennyson Road runs through it, with older homes, townhouses and workshops nearby, and the newer Breakfast Point development right next door.

Because it sits at the end of the peninsula, Mortlake residents sometimes find that locksmiths from further away are reluctant to come out, especially late at night. We are based in Concord, so the trip is short.

Down the peninsula, not out of reach.

Mortlake can feel tucked away at the end of the road, but from Brays Rd it is a short, simple drive.

What we fix in Mortlake

  • House and townhouse lockouts
  • Lock changes after moving into a new home
  • Deadlocks fitted to older timber doors
  • Side gate and garage padlocks and hasps
  • Security door locks worn by river weather
  • Locks on workshops, sheds and small commercial units

Gates, sheds and garages

Plenty of Mortlake homes have side gates, garages and backyard sheds holding bikes, tools and boating gear. These are often protected by cheap padlocks or old latches that rust quickly near the water.

We replace weak padlocks with better ones, fit hasps that cannot be unscrewed from outside, and adjust gates so they close and latch properly. It is not glamorous work, but it closes one of the easiest ways onto a property.

Townhouses on old industrial land

Some Mortlake housing sits on land that was once industrial, close to the river and the old gasworks site next door. Newer townhouse complexes here have common driveways, garages with internal access and self-closing entry doors.

Internal garage doors are a common gap. If the roller door is opened, the door from the garage into the house is the only thing left. We fit a deadlock to internal garage doors so that a forced garage does not mean an open house.
